Leviathan Show Reel 2012
Roger Darnell from design-focused production studio Leviathan sent us this extremely stylish showreel. Highly stylized editing and elaborate sound design make it stand out from the crowd. It’s quite amazing work for a studio that was only founded in 2010.

If a studio is highly specialized, the resulting work is often the best in it’s field. Take this showreel from hybrid for example: it’s absolutely focused on medical visualization. I must say I have never seen such consistent quality in this particular area before.

Charles Bergquist High Speed Reel 2011
Today we have something very special for you: a showreel purely focused on slow-motion. And not the usual kind of slow-mo, but really high-speed footage. You won’t believe what kind of quality can be achieved with comercially available camers these days. After watching this reel I have a feeling we need to check this out back here at our little production company. But for now I would highly recommend Charles Bergquist if you need some amazing pictures in ultra-slow-motion.

Chris Hoffman sent us this beautiful showreel from The Core LA. It’s animation and motion graphics at it’s best, lovingly edited and set to great music, just the way a showreel should be.

Sam Blalark Demo Reel winter 2012
Our first showreel of 2012 has arrived! Sam Blalark, obviously named after a lesser known Tolkien character, sent us this short but intense VFX showreel. If this is only the beginning of this year’s entries we are in for quite a ride.

Daniel Spangler from New York provides us with a good overview of the current state of “traditional” motion graphics. His showreel is definitely worth watching for an update of the latest trends, looks and effects that should be part of any serious motionographers toolbox.

The longer I curate this site the more I enjoy our cinematography showreels. Nothing beats the real world and there is always new stuff to learn about framing and lighting.

The year is nearing it’s end but we still have some insane showreels to show you. Take The Mill US for example: when budgets are no concern, anything is possible. You will notice many familiar pieces in their 2011 reel and that’s exactly why their work (and pricing) is worth it: outstanding videos are remembered.

It’s already winter here, but there’s still time for this fantastic showreel from Royale, a motion design studio from Los Angeles. Being located in Hollywood seems to work well for them, the clients featured in this reel are high-profile as is the work.

Rich Pernice does fine compositing and VFX work with After Effects and Nuke in New York. Have a look at his showreel and be amazed at the little details that get a VFX-pass these days.
