Elias Widerdal Showreel 2010
Elias Widerdal sent in this extremely short but promising showreel. He’s another talented alumni of the Hyper Island motion graphic design school and just finished his half-year intership at +1 in Amsterdam. Now he’s back in Sweden and looking for freelance-work and watching his reel I’m sure he’ll find enough.

Laurent Clermont 2010 showreel
Here we have another artist from France who really knows his craft. Laurent Clermont seems to be skilled at any kind of character animation; from animated cartoons in the best tradition of Pixar, through funny clips à la South Park up to video game commercials for Nintendo. He is capable of adding character to literally anything, be it objects, body parts, food or even fingerprints. It’s no wonder he recently got hired by Brokendoll studios in Stockholm as a director. You can watch his 2010 showreel over and over and be entertained, it’s one of our all time favourites.

The Meindbender showreel is a nice change from all the motion-graphics and VFX we usually see. This Swedish studio focuses solely on character animation and their single-mindedness pays off big: their works contain tons of character and emotion, they are truly among the best I have ever seen in this field.
Interesting fact: what looks like claymation in this reel is actually CGI, which in itself is quite impressive.

Another great talent from Sweden, Göran Forsling had his hands in some of the most successful cgi-driven campaings of the recent years. His showreel is a testament to his many talents which range from photorealistic vfx to cute character animation.

In this short reel artist Fredrik Davidsson shows some cool motion-graphics that make good use of simple 3D-animation. He is currently a student in the Motion Graphic Designer program at Hyper Island, Sweden and will finish in 2010.

North Kingdom took the time to produce some visuals specifically for the reel while also including a tremendous set of real work. They already are in the market for mixed media, blending video production, motion graphics and websites for full rich media experiences. I’m pretty sure this will be the path most studios will take in the forseeable future.
