Chris Wong Showreel 2011
The best thing about editing showreels is the great editing, obviously. Chris Wong has some very nice direction and editing work to show and he set it beautifully to the music of his choice. Cool work, indeed.

I couldn’t help but add this showreel from Ra-ey Saleh. It’s not as fancy as most of the other reels we show here, but it offers a very interesting insight into how much post-production goes into TV-shows that seem pretty straighforward and unedited on the first glimpse. Later in the reel it also becomes obvious how much layering even seemingly simple VFX-shots require. It’s solid, high-quality broadcast work and I find it quite fascinating.

We don’t get to see many showreels focused on editing. This is surprising, as editing is considered one of the most important creative steps in film-production. But for most motion graphics reels it is just considered a necessity, not something to show off by itself. Thankfully Jake Wynne provides a focused reel centered around his great editing work. And when you know what to look for you’ll see why he is among the best. He currently works at Prime Focus in London as director and editor.
