DESIGN IS DEAD 2012 SHOWREEL
It’s no secret that webdesign showreels have come a long way since the their humble beginnings, but this one from Design Is Dead just blew me away. I’d say it’s the new benchmark for all webdesign-related reels to follow.

Kristof Luyckx sent us his 2011 showreel and I can’t help but love it. The choice of soundtrack alone would probably have been enough to get it on our site. If you need fresh ideas and a different approach on characters and motion graphics, this is the reel to watch.

VOLSTOK have their new showreel ready and it’s just as lovely as their last one. As always I would love to watch these projects in full length, they look hilarious.

Eternitease, a visual creation studio from Belgium, pulls of some very interesting tricks with particle systems and detailed 3D geometries in this 2010 showreel. It’s a pretty dark reel but the art direction is almost flawless and everything looks extremely polished. I especially like the fluidity of all motion, something that takes a lot of hard work but really shows in the final result.

We covered Shop Around and Volstok before, but some artists have individual showreels worth seeing. Kristoff Luyckx does not only have a bizarre name, his works are quite “interesting”, too.

This extremely competent showreel from the young studio 1MD features something very interesting: they have many websites in their portfolio and found a way to seamlessly integrate them with their motion graphics work in to one coherent presentation. It’s something more and more studios will have to manage and I think 1MD pulls it off pretty well. Watch and learn.

Volstok is a small animation studio from Belgium. Extreme cuteness coupled with dark and disturbing humour is their trademark. They are best known for “De Monsters”, a series of mini-clips about the adventures of bizarre monsters in the real world.
