Miðstræti Showreel 2012
“Miðstræti” — the name alone would make this showreel worth posting. It also contains lots of competent 3D animation and motion graphics along with a catchy soundtrack, so all ingredients for enjoyment are there. This is also our first entry from Iceland and I doubt we will see too many others following soon. But if you happen to be an artist or part of a studio from Iceland, don’t hesitate to send us your reel.

Turn up the volume: Chun See Daniel Lim of 2Preform had Daniele Carmosino compose a custom soundtrack for his 2012 showreel. The result is 50% work of art, 50% showreel and 100% entertaining.

It should come as no suprise that there’s a whole industry dedicated to producing high-end motion graphics for watches in Switzerland. And yet, I am always baffled by the sheer quality of these incredibly focused animations. But there’s a trend in here, too: these works of art by Swiss motion design studio “le truc” start to explore the world around the luxury-watches and have a bigger scope than just the inner workings and mechanics of the products. Take a look after the jump and see for yourself.

If a studio is highly specialized, the resulting work is often the best in it’s field. Take this showreel from hybrid for example: it’s absolutely focused on medical visualization. I must say I have never seen such consistent quality in this particular area before.

The Core LA Showreel 2012
Chris Hoffman sent us this beautiful showreel from The Core LA. It’s animation and motion graphics at it’s best, lovingly edited and set to great music, just the way a showreel should be.

Claudio Salas Reel
“Hi, my name is Claudio and I do animation.”
… and that pretty much sums it up. It’s very impressive work for high-profile clients, all the while blurring the line between hand-drawn and digital. Definitely a showreel to watch for anyone interested in the fine are of animation.

Rafel Akushali from Russia sent us his fantastic 3D-animation showreel. Not only are the works highly impressive but there is also something interesting about the whole structure of the reel itself. Rafel chose to actually differentiate the works clearly and yet the whole feeling is quite coherent. Interesting stuff I think, but you best have a look yourself.

Who makes all those fancy title-animations for big blockbuster movies? Turns out it’s Ryan DeCarlo from New York. He’s big in motion graphics and 3D and I’m sure you will enjoy his latest showreel as much as I did. Btw. I’m still struggling to keep the site updated, but things are slowly getting a little better.

Keeping the Berlin-theme I have found another showreel worth watching. Vincenz Neuhaus shows off some commercial and some artistic work, all of which is rather well done. Enjoy!

What can one man do? A whole lot apparently, judging from this highly varied showreel of Jörgen Engdahl aka “The Strangest Thing”. You wouldn’t believe what this jack of all trades has up his sleeves. Once you are sufficiently impressed you can book him in Cologne, Germany.
