Francois Ferracci showreel 2011
Motion graphics are made by people, not studios. Francois Ferracci reminds us of this undeniable fact with his latest showreel after his departure from piksel. In his own words:

Max Mörtl – Showreel 2011
Motion graphics don’t have to be all digital. Max Mörtl takes a very art-oriented approach in his showreel with lots of hand-crafted animation. It’s very different yet very professionally looking. It’s also a surprising departure from the usually super-clean and highly technical work we get from Germany. Finding a niche in a region might be a clever idea for an aspiring artist.

Have this upbeat showreel from Giant Ant for a break. It’s as commercial as a showreel can be and there are many great ideas in here to inspire your own projects.

Today we have something very special for you: a showreel purely focused on slow-motion. And not the usual kind of slow-mo, but really high-speed footage. You won’t believe what kind of quality can be achieved with comercially available camers these days. After watching this reel I have a feeling we need to check this out back here at our little production company. But for now I would highly recommend Charles Bergquist if you need some amazing pictures in ultra-slow-motion.

The best thing about editing showreels is the great editing, obviously. Chris Wong has some very nice direction and editing work to show and he set it beautifully to the music of his choice. Cool work, indeed.

I couldn’t help but add this showreel from Ra-ey Saleh. It’s not as fancy as most of the other reels we show here, but it offers a very interesting insight into how much post-production goes into TV-shows that seem pretty straighforward and unedited on the first glimpse. Later in the reel it also becomes obvious how much layering even seemingly simple VFX-shots require. It’s solid, high-quality broadcast work and I find it quite fascinating.

Very, very cool und very stylish, such is the Clash Production Showreel 2011. This studio focuses exclusively on Motor Sports but the showreel is not what you might expect. Take a look, you won’t regret it.

Clever editing, a good choice of music and great use of retiming make Alex Kogan’s 2011 showreel a pleasure to watch. Notice how he modified almost all of the footage to fit the beat perfectly – this must have taken quite a while.

“I’d hire that!” is the first thought coming into my mind watching Guillaume Le Roux’s new motion design showreel. It’s short, fun and super-professional.

Daniel Spangler from New York provides us with a good overview of the current state of “traditional” motion graphics. His showreel is definitely worth watching for an update of the latest trends, looks and effects that should be part of any serious motionographers toolbox.
