STRICTLY SHOWREELS

If a studio is highly specialized, the resulting work is often the best in it’s field. Take this showreel from hybrid for example: it’s absolutely focused on medical visualization. I must say I have never seen such consistent quality in this particular area before.

Keeping the Berlin-theme I have found another showreel worth watching. Vincenz Neuhaus shows off some commercial and some artistic work, all of which is rather well done. Enjoy!

I’m still having trouble keeping things up-to-date alongside all my project-work. And now that I finally find some time I’m going on a well-deserved trip to Berlin. Speaking of Berlin: here’s the showreel of Extrajetzt, a digital media studio/agency with quite the varied portfolio. It’s lot’s of interactive stuff and it really shows how much design goes into games and interactive applications. Have a fun weekend, I know I will!

French director Marc Fouchard sent in his 2010 showreel. It’s the typical french mixture of cheeky humor, beautiful shots and overall attention to detail. It just feels a little short, we certainly could’ve watched more of this.

We are all used to spectacular motion graphics and digital effects, but the most powerful tool in any video production pipeline is color grading. Simona Harrison is a true master in this field and her reel will blow you away with it’s variety.

Who said 2D-animation was dead? Glenn Hatton from Australia does some amazing work in 2D and the projects featured in his showreel look fantastic (and hilarious).

“What’s new in Ukrainian motion graphics?” is a question you certainly ask yourself from time to time. Dmitry Gavrilyuk gives us a good idea in his impressive showreel. The combination of sound and images is especially noteworthy, not many artists go to such great lengths to come up with something special. Also, try and say his name five times in a row, and fast.

Have some motion graphics with an emphasis on graphics by Guillaume Le Roux from France. Fluidity and attention to detail really come to the front here and I couldn’t help but enjoy it.

What makes a good showreel? Kyle Richtsfeld covers the basics almost perfectly: great variety, quality execution and fitting soundtrack. Almost all the basic motion graphics classics are in here and everything has good art direction. With this kind of demoreel an artist can’t go wrong.
