Marek_Okon_2008

Here’s some very different stuff from Marek Okon. It’s a best of his works for Tokyo based advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy. Expect lot’s of creativity and new ideas. It’s actually pretty old (from 2008), but you wouldn’t know from watching it.

It’s “Young Talents Weeks” here on strictlyshowreels.com, so enjoy this nice showreel from Anja Hartmann. Here’s what she has to say about her work:

“At the moment im studying Motion Design at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany. My major aim is to create something poetic and visual attractive. I´m working a lot with photography, found material and graphic illustration. The combination of music an animation is very important to me, I create concert visuals and music driven animation.”

When I get sick of the hyper-clean, ever-exciting worlds of consumerist commercial videos I need something different to get the clogged creative arteries flowing again. Thankfully Emil Goodman from Hungary provides some fresh perspective with his creative and slighty disturbing visuals. It’s one of those showreels that sticks in the back of your head for a while.

silo1 showreel

Here’s some interesting experimental and commercial work from Silo 1 Creative Studio. They are based in Istanbul and due to their dysfunctional homepage I can’t really tell you much more about them. Hopefully things will be up and running soon as their work is quite intriguing.

André Nicolas from France gives us an explosion of creativity and a powerful fresh take on motion-graphics in his 2008 showreel for his INCOG. DESIGN BURÖ and the PLAY Live Motion Collective. To find out what these are you’ll best ask him yourself.

His reel is guaranteed to lighten up your day with a super-happy soundtrack and some of the fastest visuals I’ve recently seen. It also contains a wealth of pop-culture references, can you spot them all?

Dstrukt 2008 showreel

Jun
2010

Enough with the cutesy-artsy showreels! Dstrukt takes his viewers to the dark side in a disturbing realm of explosive and evocative imagery. Christopher Hewitt from London shows not only great craftsmanship but fantastic direction and my only wish is that it was longer.

Another entry in the line of “quirky” showreels is James Wignall’s 2008 Mutand Hands video. James is a freelance art-director, animator and overall visual talent based in London. His high-profile clients like Nike, Sony and the BBC are a testament to his skill and professionalism. His reel does a great job of showing his immense creativity. I really love the glimpses of his dark British humor that turns lovable cute characters into menacing beasts.
