Kyle Richtsfeld Showreel 2012

With pumping beats and bright visuals Kyle Richtsfeld delivers another highly enjoyable showreel. And as expected his work has only gotten better since his 2010 entry. I’d highly recommend watching both of his showreels and analyzing them. They are a very good example of how to impress with variety, attention to detail and a sense of direction without going overboard with conceptual design.

Peter Quinn - Showreel 2012 [99 Seconds]

Peter Quinn from Canada has a showreel full of the most classic examples of motion graphics. It’s high quality throughout and permeated by a strong commercial background. If you want to know what sells, look no further.

Vincent Viriot Demo Reel 2012

What would have happened if the 80s started just now? You might find the answer here! Vincent Viriot combines retro aesthetics with the latest in VFX and the result is simply astounding. This is certainly one of the most surprising and creative showreels I’ve seen all year and it’s absolutely worth watching.

Justin Bates VFX Reel 2012

After posting some fascinating VFX-experiment of Justin Bates over at Strictly VFX I decided to take a closer look at his work. And don’t you know it: he has quite the impressive showreel. Beeing based in the UK has one hilarious side-effect though: almost all of his projects revolve around soccer and beer. But please, take a look for yourself, it’s worth it.

jonathan

Jonathan Goffredo aka “Senor Ektor” has a new showreel out and it’s quite a handful. Lot’s and lot’s of detailed motion graphics along with some light 3D work and all set to a pumping soundtrack. It’s about as cliché as a motion graphics reel can get, but is this necessarily a bad thing?

DAVID ÖSTER | REEL 2012

David Öster from Sweden puts the “graphics” back into motion graphics. I have been thinking a whole while now on how I would describe his style, but I can’t come up with something fitting. You’ll have to take a look for yourself.

Character animation lifts the spirits and Geoffrey Godet has a nice showreel to prove this point. It’s short and fun, take a look!

2Preform's Nelumbo (°Reel 2012)

Turn up the volume: Chun See Daniel Lim of 2Preform had Daniele Carmosino compose a custom soundtrack for his 2012 showreel. The result is 50% work of art, 50% showreel and 100% entertaining.

Elias Atto - Reel 2012

Elias Atto sent us this VFX and 3D animation showreel wich contains his works during his time at Swiss International AB. The studio is located in Sweden, but Elias is from Australia — the digital workflows make it possible. In his showreel you will find some quite interesting breakdowns of VFX-scenes, allowing a look behind the scenes of contemporary media production. I was especially suprised by the usage of Microsoft’s Kinect as a scanning device. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with current technoligical trends in motion design, things sure move fast.

Bastiaan Koch / Marauder Film - VFX SHOWREEL

Big budget special effects are the work of large teams made up the very best in the VFX industry. But there are individuals standing out, like Bastiaan Koch, founder and head of Marauder Film. He worked on so many blockbusters you are almost guaranteed to have seen his work. Two weeks ago he released his latest showreel and it feels like a compilation of all the movies I watched for special effects alone. He also won two Oscars for his work so don’t worry about him not getting enough credit for his contributions. It’s amazing stuff all around.
