As you might or might not know I am a digital media artist myself. This month I am taking part in the 3D art contest at the reddit blender community. If you have a reddit account and think my entry is the best of them, please go over there and give me your upvote, I’d be really, really happy about that. And I promise I’ll post more showreels again, it’s just that I became a father early last month and it takes some time to get used to.

Finally, another super-cool character animation showreel. As it’s from the Netherlands you can expect it to be quite funny, too.

After strictly personal projects yesterday we jump straight to full-on commercial works today. The film department at Craft Worldwide Oslo presents a comprehensive collection of high-end productions in film production, 3D animation and motion graphic design. It’s all superb, just as you’d expect from an international full-service studio.

Pieter de Jong provides another of those few showreels that can stand on their own without anycommercial works. His unique style and obvious talent make this well worth watching. I actually wish this was longer.

Plastic Tolstoy, a motion graphics boutique from Amsterdam, sent us their showreel and I just couldn’t help liking their style and this description of their studio:
Of all the motion graphic design and 3d animation studios in the world, we are one of them…
The showreel also contains a puppy, so there’s that.

Usually VFX showreels now go on our sister-site Strictly VFX, but as this one doesn’t contain any VFX breakdowns it feels more at home right here. Lucas Kazakevicius is a specialist for smoke simulation and his works manage to impress.

Hariz Soe’oed’s motion graphics showreel has an almost classic touch to it, as if it was created in 2011. The sleek visuals with lot’s of greys and fine lines are something that was all the rage once but has since been abandoned. It feels good to see this style again, it was one of my favourites.

Anthony Hibbert has a good hand for graphics in general and his motion graphics showreel shows what this is worth.

Tom McDermott has a pretty unique style and a very cool showreel.

I once pondered the thought of enacting a strict “No Hipsters” policy on my blogs. But then again, what’s the point? Hipsters love beeing filmed, they love filming and for better or worse they are here to stay. Miki Háromöthét (you probably haven’t heard of him) has the perfect name for filming hipsterific stuff and his showreel completely delivers. Tight trousers, vintage sneakers, ironic sunglasses, you name it and you’ll find it here. It’s solid work throughout and we should all better get used to it and learn from him. If you absolutely, positively have to film the hipster-live, you should do it right, and Miki does.
